Scheme for reducing ammonia concentration and eliminating odor in farm

2021-10-14

There are more than 200 kinds of malodorous substances produced in animal husbandry production, mainly from the corruption and decomposition of animal feces, sewage, feed residues and bedding materials, as well as the gas discharged from the digestive tract and the smell emitted by the secretion of sebaceous glands, mainly including ammonia (NH3), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), indole, stink, volatile fatty acid (VFA), etc.

Intensive layer breeding has become the most important breeding mode in China because of its small floor area, high space utilization rate and low labor cost. However, due to its high breeding density and difficult control of temperature and humidity, ammonia produced by chicken manure fermentation in the chicken house seriously affects the laying performance and health of chickens, and has a great impact on the health of workers.

Ammonia is a toxic substance to living organisms. Especially the brain tissue of higher animals is very sensitive to ammonia. When the concentration of ammonia in blood reaches 1%, it can cause central nervous system poisoning. The main harm of ammonia to the body is to stimulate the eyes and respiratory mucosa, increase the susceptibility to respiratory diseases, and affect feed intake, feed conversion efficiency and growth rate.

When the ammonia concentration is higher than 5.3 mg / m3, the chicken house staff can smell the pungent smell; When the ammonia concentration is higher than 20mg / m3, the eyes will be stimulated and begin to shed tears. If it lasts for more than 6 weeks, it will lead to the loss of appetite and egg laying rate of laying hens, which will seriously lead to congestion and edema in the lungs of laying hens. When the ammonia concentration exceeds 50mg / m3 for several days, it will lead to laryngeal edema, necrotizing bronchitis, pulmonary hemorrhage and decreased respiratory rate of laying hens, In severe cases, chickens will die.

"Breeding is raising intestines", which is the production workshop of meat, eggs and milk. Modern scientific research has proved that the gut is not only the place for animals to digest and absorb, but also the main source of endotoxin and odor generation and accumulation in the gut of animals. "Internal regulation" is to regulate the flora structure and flora balance of animal intestine, use probiotics and their metabolites to regulate intestinal pathogenic microorganisms, promote intestinal mucosal immunity, improve the digestion and absorption of nutrients, and control the fermentation of spoilage bacteria to produce endotoxin and odor.

"The environment is the source of all diseases". A large number of odor such as ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, indole and stink in the animal house seriously exceed the standard, which is an important reason for low animal immunity and frequent diseases. Through the "external control" method, it can not only significantly reduce the odor concentration of ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, indole and stink in the breeding environment, but also enhance the body immunity and improve the production performance.

Microbial deodorization technology uses biological deodorant made of environmentally beneficial microorganisms to deodorize the odor source emitting odor gas. This method has the characteristics of simple operation, high treatment efficiency, no secondary pollution and low cost. It has gradually become a development direction of livestock and poultry odor control in many countries.
