The harm of mycotoxins to pigs

Mycotoxin is harmful to pigs in many ways.

Among them, acute death of pigs, breeding disorders, reduced immune function, reduced feed utilization rate, decreased disease resistance and decreased production performance, etc. Any harm will cause serious economic losses to pig production.

Mycotoxins mainly refer to the toxic metabolites produced by molds in the contaminated food. They can enter human and animal bodies through feed or food, causing acute or chronic toxicity and damaging liver, kidney, nerve tissue, hematopoietic tissue and skin tissue of the body.

Mycotoxins can form when crops are harvested in the field.

Mycotoxins can also continue to form on post-harvest crops under inappropriate storage conditions.

Higher humidity is generally conducive to mold growth and mycotoxin production in feed.

Temperature is another important factor.

Crops in high temperatures and drought are vulnerable to fungal spores, which can produce mycotoxins when conditions permit.
